Although they were initially grouped with the legions of pop-metal bands that dominated the American heavy metal scene of the '80s, Queensrÿche were one of the most distinctive bands of the era. Where their contemporaries built on the legacy of Van Halen, Aerosmith, and Kiss, Queensrÿche constructed a progressive form of heavy metal that drew equally from the guitar pyrotechnics of post-Van Halen metal and '70s art rock, most notably Pink Floyd and Queen. After releasing a handful of ignored albums, the band began to break into the mainstream with the acclaimed 1988 album Operation: Mindcrime. Its follow-up, Empire, was the group's biggest success, selling over two million copies due to the hit single "Silent Lucidity." Queensrÿche never sustained that widespread popularity -- like most late-'80s metal bands, their audience disappeared after the emergence of grunge. Nevertheless, they retained a large cult following well into the ensuing decades.
Windowpane
Windowpane is currently the most popular independently distributed hard rock band in the Seattle area market and is beginning to reach many others. Windowpane is bringing the raw & ugly truth that IS American, dirty guitar driven, Rock & Roll back into the light, and people are hungry for it! Foregoing fancy stage props and theatrics, the band's backdrop consists of vintage Marshall and Ampeg stacks, fronted with low slung Les Pauls and Fenders. Their sound is unique, gritty and dark, tailored with an angry blues essence that dances with loose and powerful grooves worthy of the classic rock icons. Their lyrics are honest, open and relate to a vulnerability that is within all of us. This genuine, infectious approach coupled with emotionally fueled live performances has generated a tremendous Northwest fan base and will undoubtedly have the same effect on the rest of the nation.
"Windowpane in my opinion is one of the next big things to come out of Seattle. It is a band made up of unique and extremely talented individuals that all come together and bust out one hell of a show EVERY time. The energy and passion that these guys put behind their music is simply brilliant, you just can't help but get sucked into it."

Working with veteran Producer Brett Eliason (Pearl Jam, Mad Season, Neil Young, Audioslave, R.E.M etc.) the band released "Daybreak," their newest full length album. The release party for this CD was a sold out event at The Showbox Market in downtown Seattle (1100 capacity). Seattle’s flagship rock radio station, KISW 99.9 FM has been featuring the songs “Remains” and "House Of Cards" both on air, and with heavier rotation within its streaming broadcasts. KISW has also been involved in directly sponsoring and on air promotion of all Windowpane events since the release. To date Windowpane has sold thousands of copies of Daybreak in their home market alone, to an ever growing fan base that just can’t seem to get enough.
The response to the band's newest single "Underfoot" from a limited fan-club only release in February 2011 has been overwhelming, and led to over 1000 people in attendance for that month's performance at Seattle's Showbox SODO.
Windowpane has several songs from the Daybreak album placed in soon to be released feature films. “Show me the Way” will be played in its entirety in the closing credits for the movie “Evil Angel,” starring Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction, the Mission Impossible trilogy etc). The song “Used to Be” has been placed in a Sundance feature called “A Different Corner” along with several of the band’s acoustic limited release recordings. Further licensing for the band is being handled by Jennifer Cornett at The BK Entertainment Group and Syndicate 17.
With the Seattle market well in hand, the band is now beginning a nationwide push via intense touring coupled with massive web and radio promotion. “People are really responding to what we’re putting out there, we have no choice at this point but to get this thing out and working on a nationwide basis” says singer/guitarist Glenn Cannon. Windowpane's on-line presence speaks for itself, from Facebook to MySpace and ranging a tremendous array of on-line music forums, streaming internet radio stations, and all digital media outlets, they are gaining new fans everywhere, everyday. Windowpane seems to be the breath of fresh air that so many die hard rock fans are starving for. Powerful with hooks galore, minus the glitz and glamour. Windowpane is honest hard rock for the silent majority.
